Excellent detective novel. The beginning of the series featuring French detective Adamsberg. Quick and compelling, I’ll recommend this easily to others.
Set in Paris, great atmosphere and a good plot. Adamberg is not like other detectives, he’s better.

Gothic, humorous and gentile.
Two elderly women in Whitby turn sleuths. It transpires we have The Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula rolled into the story.
Nonsense but fun.

Kids book which has been around for some time.
Ok, but dated and a bit simplistic. Has something though.

Classic horror. Written in 1897 and possibly the first novel to use the correspondence style.
Easy to see why it became a classic, in its day it terrified readers. What would a modern day editor do with it, probably cut it by 100 pages, but would that make it a better?
