“Meeting this SAS war veteran meant I’d be foolish not to read up on him.
Even if you don’t like his writing ability you have to respect his heroic career. Insightful.

“I read this when too many people recommended it to me. Also once the hype had died down. Oh and I was due to meet and introduce the author!
So, the novel. I grew to like it more and more as I read further in.
I became engrossed in the characters who lived with me well after I’d finished the book.
Must read his new one soon. Oh, and a very nice person.

“I’m guessing this will a series of books. Features four kids who stumble across a website that allows them to choose super hero abilities.
There must be better teens books than this, a weak story line and far too obvious for any age.

“Shortlisted for the 2008 Booker prize and first in a trilogy.
This is a multi cast historical saga from 1831 India.
Very interesting and colourful language, I liked the languages…Indian words, pidgin English, maritime jargon. Ultimately though this story didn’t work for me. I know its a trilogy but the characters didn’t develop fast enough (in 480 pages), I haven’t the energy to read book two etc.
