What a cracking read. Modern day crime culture, told in street language. Violent and fully charged.
I read it as an audiobook and it was perfectly, yes perfectly narrated by Paul Thornley, he and I later went to Chelmsford prison and did a talk to the inmates…I know they enjoyed it.
Go to your local library and ask for the audiobook edition.

A novella by the brother of John (Booker nominee author) so good stuff does run in the family.
A private eye is hired to find the daughter of a big businessman.
Read it in an hour.

Shortlisted for the Booker, but doesn’t go on to win. All the action takes place in frozen Siberia just after the first world war.
Strongly visual and atmospheric, a cast of dozens, all with unpronounceable Russian and Czech soldiers.
A bit far fetched and a challenging difficult read. Great cover.

Oskar Schell is one of those wonderfully colourful and expertly written characters, a nine year old boy who’s life is turned upside down by 9/11 disaster.
I urge you to read this book, it ranks with the highest scores I’ll ever give…never going to be a perfect ten by the way.
