“A gem of a book.
I read it in a couple of days and found it to be most enjoyable. I liked the bookines and the love of books, the vision of the Alice Island Book Shop, all the characters.

“Solo is when 007 goes out on his own to avenge his would be killer.
The Fleming estate commissioned Boyd to do this and he did it well.

“This novel, written in 1968 is almost science fiction and has a sparse style which I liked.
Jo Nesbo describes him as the god father of Nordic crime, I don’t know if this is right.
Inspector Jensen returns to his perfect country to find that everything has changes and all social and political systems have broken down and the country is broken by some sort of epidemic plague.
A moral story which I felt is a little simply put. Read 1984 instead.

“A crackingly well constructed mystery thriller.
Set on the island of Lewis in the Scottish Outer Hebrides. A body is discovered preserved by the peat, the main suspect is an elderly man with dementia.
It is the middle book of a trilogy (I didn’t know this and it is easily a stand alone novel).
