“Here’s an interesting way to read a book, start with the audiobook and then halfway through switch to the pages!
Perhaps Faulks is writing a ‘state of the nation’ novel. Intentionally writing character via stereotypes. I found this dull and disappointing. Not one I’ll be recommending.

“Based upon true life events but not exactly non fiction.
This is a story of a disastrous attempt to cross the Sahara desert in a Morris Traveller.
Some lived to tell the tale from 1955. Either naive or stupid, you decide for yourself.
