Everyone should read this book. It is stunning. I wanted to tell everyone about it, then discuss it with them.
I’m not even going to tell you what it’s about, buy it, read it and recommend it
Deservedly won the Orange prize and then, later, the Orange of Oranges.

The latest Rebus crime novel. Very chuffed to meet Ian Rankin in Edinburgh where he gave a talk to a group of people I’d invited.
Later the same day I found The Close named after the meat market which is situated and once led to a slaughterhouse at the side of the Nor’ Loch.
To finish off my Rebus pilgrimage I hunted down The Oxford Bar and supped a few pints of 12 shillings with the locals.
As for the book, read it and find out for yourself.

WW2 RAF fighter pilot war story of love and loss.
Nice enough, well written and from a young author which I hadn’t realised until after I’d finished the novel.
