“This is a translation from a French Canadian author and not done very well.
This is a simple story of a neighbourhood coming together in a crisis. It felt as if the author had an idea and then tried to write a book around it, sadly the publisher thought it was a good idea too.
Our book group gave it a generous 3.75/10 I’m less inclined with a lowly 2/10

“I do like her style.
Not the first I’ve read by her and I would recommend you to try any of her novels.
The plot; a mother is a famous author who uses her 4 children as the basis of her bestselling children’s stories, this however causes long term problems later in life for the children who are not living in the perfect fictitious world their mother created.

“Because I was introducing this author at an event I chose to read his latest novel, generally not the sort of book I’d usually pick up.
Nicholson is a twice Oscar nominated script writer. This I found to be a perfectly good romantic saga which covers the period of the second world war and the consequences which follow from this surrounding 4 characters.
Perhaps a little longer than needed but don’t be put off by my review, he is a thoughtful author and having met him I’d read more.
