Long listed for this years Booker and I don’t see it reaching the shortlist.
Everyone is out to get Pakistan’s General Zia (this was true), he is ruling the country but not very well. Amusing and annoying in turns.
Is it aimed at those that like thrillers or literary fiction, either way you would be disappointed.

A cursed book and a troposphere = a great idea for a story.
The novel borders on sci-fi but isn’t really.
Ariel finds and reads the cursed book, then takes a potion, this takes her via the Troposphere, this allows her to jump into peoples minds (or mice’s minds!)
Would I read more by her, yes definitely.

Time shifts effortlessly from twins aged nine to now at 32. A near perfect example of how witting should be done.
Set in India this story revolves around a family tragedy. A complex novel and a seriously good read.
It won the Booker and alas nothing has been written by her since, if she does I’ll read like a shot.

“Winner of the Nestle 10-12 year olds prize.
This author also does adult fiction too.
Good read and in places hard hitting, death, murder and then back to easy for 11 year olds.
Orphan siblings have to stay with distant Aunt in Norway. You guessed it she lives on the edge of The Shadow Forest, where the evil ruler is stealing everyone’s shadows. I liked it.
