Booker winning novel
Modern day India is the setting from this debut novel.
A story of rags to riches, murder and class is all interwoven in this fairly simply styled novel.
I liked it but then felt…not that bothered and detached from the story.

The survey from our book group was this is more enjoyed be the males than the females.
I found the book dull and uninteresting, perhaps I had high expectations from this author.
This isn’t to say its not a clever book, it’s certainly creative. He creates a new country and fills it with rules and myths.
What did annoy me was the constant use of words I don’t know the meaning of! Duh
