“A collection of linked short stories.
The first is the best. Takes place in The Plantation Club, a seedy gay dive in Soho. Has a twist which continues through the rest of the stories.
Very funny (the first one) and then a bit confusing, Will Self on form. Oh and I listened to this and he reads it brilliantly.

“Oops another Booker Prize Winning novel which I score low.
Billed as comic, not for me it wasn’t – mildly amusing in places at best.
Why did it win? Load of old tosh. Three men talking about being Jewish.

“An interesting and well written debut novel.
When Foss’s demented mother dies and her dying wish is to deliver a package, Foss has little choice.
He has however issues and is somewhat agoraphobic, caused by a tragedy we later discover.
His journey takes him off to Tokyo and beyond, where he meets a colourful Japanese student and they set about searching for the mysterious Mr Satoshi.
I liked this and will read his next. Book group a little less with 6.25/10

“A writer is spending time in Calcutta, he is suffering from writers block (the dead hand).
He meets a saintly American woman who asks for his help when a body turns up.
This isn’t however a whodunit, but an enjoyable story of love and manipulation. Very good.
