“Began well when our protagonist goes to the wrong funeral. As a result he inherits a fortune.
This turns him into a bit of a git. So far so good. The transition to a caring person is far to clunky. He gets it back on track until he needs to finish, back to clunky.

“My first LDB novel, having been put off by all the hype from Capt Morelli’s thingamie.
Did I like it, yes very much.
This is a delightful novel of rural England in around the fifties. Based in the south of Surrey, he brings in lots of characters, from eccentrics to young lads out fishing for the Big Girt.
Lovely and recommended.

“This guy is a comedian, but he can write too.
Trouble is after 6 days of finishing this book I couldn’t for the life of me recall this book.
I know I read something and I remember enjoying it.

“Began well, very slow in the middle, finished OK.
Overall I found this irritating. Others in the book group liked it more and the average score was 5.5/10
