“A saga told in the first person narrative. This is Lilly’s story.
Longlisted for the Booker.
Lilly is now an old women, this novel begins in Ireland and political troubles take her and her lover fleeing to America.
We follow her through her life, friends, relationships and family. But this is a lot more than some old saga, lovely prose.

“How Christie has written this I’d love to meet her and ask the question.
It has a real fresh feel to it, as if it is her story (which I’m fairly sure it isn’t).
A family living the good life in Lagos, Nigeria have to move back to a Niger Delta village, back without electric and running water. The story unfolds and keeps your attention throughout.
Be prepared for an emotional ride. Reading groups will talk and discuss for hours with this one.
Well done Christie Watson

“Booker prize winning and excellent.
Treat your self to this quick to read novel, it will stay longer in your memory.
A mans memory and feelings are reviewed by him following a surprise bequest from an old flames mother.
The whole book works wonderfully and will be a great book group selection.
Thought provoking and well constructed.

“At last a new novel by the Japanese genius.
Parallel worlds and two main characters feature in this epic 3 book novel. I’ve only read the first book.
You will have to read these in order, and the first has nowhere near a conclusion, in fact at the end of book one it feels like the end of a chapter.
Is it compelling enough to take me into book 2 & 3? I’m not sure…perhaps I’ll begin book two and see how I go.
