Very popular author and this a mini series with Professor Doctor Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld getting mixed up with the lecture circuit and his egocentric antics.
An author I had the pleasure of meeting and introducing to a group. We all had afternoon tea together, more Earl Grey vicar!
Alas I didn’t take to this so called humorous novella. Gave up and went onto my next read.

‘A brilliant new novel from Tim Parks that will widen his readership’ so says the publisher, I’d say it will narrow his readership by one…me.
This book was pants!
Set in the Italian Alps, a group of canoeist are taking some sort of canoe exam. The plot drifts along and the relationships are unbelievable. Don’t waste your time.

Very enjoyable and first rate read. Can’t wait to read more by him.
A modern day telling of Sedaris’s family life with Gerald Durrell flavour and his laugh out loud (and you won’t hear this phrase very often from me) humour. Loved it
The bit about the big dog and little dog really made me chuckle.

I read this and then gave it to the manager of a 4 star hotel, he read it and within a week most of the staff did the same.
Supposedly real life anecdotes from a five star hotel in London cobbled together and created a 24 fly on the wall story.
Very easy and quick to read, amusing and as I spend a lot of time in hotels, interesting.
