“Futuristic 2067. The state have managed to make the workers addicted to a drug which makes them compliant and submissive.
By working hard they are promised a trip ‘Home’ where everything will be great.
I found it hard to believe an 11 year old flying a fighter plan and taking on adults.

“Oops another Booker Prize Winning novel which I score low.
Billed as comic, not for me it wasn’t – mildly amusing in places at best.
Why did it win? Load of old tosh. Three men talking about being Jewish.

“Long listed and likely favourite for the Booker, but didn’t make it to the shortlist.
Historical Dutch/Japanese novel which I’d eagerly awaited and chosen by our book group.
First impression was a disappointment, but perhaps I’ve under scored it?

Humourous but lacks depth. Short chapters and page turning stuff. Bit like eating vanilla ice cream, nice while you eat it .
