“A cold and un-sympathetic account of drug addicts.
Depressing and stark. Heroin is the only good thing in these peoples tormented and affected lives.

“Weepy romantic comedy from the writer of Starter for Ten.

“The recent winner of the Booker for Wolfhall. I had high hopes of this earlier novel about a medium who has had an abused childhood.
Powerfully delivered images of the gypsy home and nasty men. The ghosts are harder to believe.
If an editor had knocked 100 pages off this a better book would have been created. Too slow and a bit dull for that reason.

“This came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint.
The style of writing is fantastic, it what I crave for.
The story is surreal and obscure, its the stories within the stories that matter.
Message to self ‘read more by this author’.
