“My sort of book. The first 50 pages are full of intrigue, mostly you are in the dark and kept guessing what is going on, I like that.
It doesn’t get much clearer but this isn’t a plot driven novel, more about the skill of the writer. And to think it is her first novel is wonderful. Our book group were less sure and some liked it less which brought the average score to 6/10, my score a lovely 8/10. more please Sarah

“A fun and absorbing book. Our group enjoyed this, we gave it 7/10 as did I.
Llewellyn and Cunningham are two characters that will be hard to forget. Not likeable or heroic, but memorable. This is a really good novel. I should score it higher (in retrospect I would give it 8/10)

“He’s a good writer there’s no question about it. I liked Snowdops a lot. This next novel didn’t disappoint me.
Whilst travelling two lads meet up and decide to travel together. An event changes their lives forever. They stay life long friends but does the past catch up with them?

“Possibly what separates this novella from other literary works is its style is smoothly written. The Japanese author is a poet first and now a published novelist.
A young couple rent a house in the grounds of a sprawling estate which harps back to grander and gentler times in Tokyo. Their lives drift along somewhat direction-less. One day a stray cat visits, he comes again the following day. The small joys this provides seems to pull their lives together.
Our book club liked this more than me and gave it 6/10, I’m a little less convinced with 5/10

Score 5/10
