“What a load of old nonsense!
Alan you’ve let me down.
Two stories, niether good, both out of date and unfunny.
Book group thought more of it and gave it an average of 3.75/10

“Not my cuppa char really. I found it very hard to connect with the characters and the story, which is told in two parts and felt disjointed.
When I met the author she explained that it had intended to be a novella, when she read it back it lacked something, so she wrote a second part and tried to combine them.
Not for me but what do others think who may well appreciate the story line?

“A whole series to enjoy here should I wish to continue.
Vienna 1903. An operatic diva is found dead, natural cause or murder? Enter Detective Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt and his young friend, the psychoanalyst Dr. Max Liebermann.
This is a literary thriller and more. I got an excellent sense of etiquette and life style, I’d no idea how powerful Vienna was at this time.
Bonus was that I got to meet and introduce the author…he’s working on a horror novel next, definitely worth a read.

“Highly respected travel writer Colin Thubron embarks on a massive journey from northern China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, then through Iran and into Turkey.
This isn’t some Around Ireland with a Fridge type travelling writing nonsense, this is in depth.
I had the chance to hear him talk about his new novel about Tibet, sounds equally interesting.
