“If you didn’t read The End of Mr Y then you should!
This doesn’t connect at all and stands alone as a novel.
As a writer she has an easy style which makes the pages flow and keeps you wanting to read on.
We read this as a book club novel and had lots to discuss and debate.
BC scored 5.6/10 I liked it more than most and gave it a 7/10

“This is Bryson at his best and back on the tour as a twenty year follow up to notes from a Small Island.
Charming and funny, he is interesting, a bit grumpy but in a good way, for an Anglophile he does a great job.
Definitely one I’m recommending and a strong 8/10

“Every now and then I come across a novel that feels like a breath of fresh air, this is one of them.
No real plot and proper literary fiction, this is more a collection of interlocking stories and characters, which normally I would not enjoy, but this is good!
8/10 recommended

“I’ve read back to back Murakami’s and I need a rest!
More magical realism and a good idea, this short novel is good.
But I’m feeling critical so 4/10
