“This novel, written in 1968 is almost science fiction and has a sparse style which I liked.
Jo Nesbo describes him as the god father of Nordic crime, I don’t know if this is right.
Inspector Jensen returns to his perfect country to find that everything has changes and all social and political systems have broken down and the country is broken by some sort of epidemic plague.
A moral story which I felt is a little simply put. Read 1984 instead.

“Thriller or Chiller: Both!
One of my favorite authors who always delivers something good and something different.
This novel has an excellent voice in the character Hesketh Lock, a global trouble shooter who has a form of Asperger’s syndrome. This provides some great stuff and I’d like it if he reappeared in another novel. Colin Mace who narrates this audiobook edition does a perfect job, one of my favorite narrators too.
Plot summary is kids start a mysterious and cataclysmic world state, sounds unlikely but she pulls it off

“Not strictly sci-fi, but as good as.
I found it difficult to follow all the elements and threads, perhaps because I listened to the audiobook rather than read the word from the page.
Clever book and enjoyable.

Rather interestingly this doesn’t have the cosy ending one gets with most teenage novels. In fact it leaves you hanging for the next in the series.
A young girl discovers special powers and finds she is the result of an experiment of a genetic trial trying to create the perfect human.
Enter the mad scientist… her father, but is he a good guy or a baddy?
The next book will be out soon, will I read it?
