Now here’s an author I strongly recommend. His writing is perfectly formed, you’ll never trip around in a sentence. His stories are gently and touching. nine years old Lucy is she confused by the decision her parents make to leave Ireland for a time due to the troubles and their fear of harm coming to them. She decided to run away, her parents believe she had drowned and the tragic story expands. A novel like this is why I read fiction in the modern fiction genre.

How likely is this story to be creditable, and even so is it interesting enough? Okay so it is covering a different generation of man and wife. Made into a film, probably better off watching that.

The first of a new (Waterstones) reading group. I liked this novel by Japanese author. Simple principal but hard to pull off? You are diagnosed with a few weeks to live, the devil offers you a deal, but there are consequences… I’m recommending this to you

My initial thought was ‘what the bloody hell was the point of all that’! Yes I know many loved the book, the critics rave about it. I’ve read other by him and thoroughly enjoyed them. Couldn’t connect at all to this self absorbed, mid life crisis character.
