“Not his best and written during his time as a struggling author.
Interesting history of Paris and the other writers who circled there at this period…Ezra Pound, James Joyce, F Scott Fitzgerald.
All I’ll say is I’m glad it was a short book!

“Set at a pivotal point in the history of Victorian London as plans are finalised for the overhaul of the capitals sewers.
The hero of the plot works as an engineer for Bazalette, he is haunted by events from the Crimean war and is a self harmer.
This is an intelligent and gripping murder mystery – the story is moving and involving.
I met the author (long after I’d given it a score) and she did plenty of research, including a tour of the sewers!

“Billed as Robinson Crusoe meets The Life of Pi…no chance, doesn’t even come close.
Historical tale of whalers in the Arctic who leave Thomas Cave behind over winter to deal with his grief.
I should have given up when the left him.

WW2 RAF fighter pilot war story of love and loss.
Nice enough, well written and from a young author which I hadn’t realised until after I’d finished the novel.
