“Fostered and lost, Brenton Brown meets his long lost mother, he has an incestual relationship with his half sister.
I enjoyed his raw style and the black London dialogue.
Met the author who is very interesting, this is almost a biog in parts and based on some truths (not him with incest though!). Alex got involved with some bad drug lords, jailed for something that happened during the Brixton Riots of 1980’s, discovered the joy of reading in prison, now has an OBE for services to literature.
I should read the follow up novel Brenton Brown sometime.

“This classic American novel by the Pulitzer award winning author I’ve been told countless times I should read, and so I have and this should put a stop to it.
Set during the great depression 30’s America we follow the Joad family who depart drought ridden Oklahoma in search of a new and better life.
Crickey is this a miserable novel, every step of the way what can go wrong does go wrong. Not the American dream. Not for me, yet I appreciate this gifted author and enjoyed Of Mice and Men.
